Common Questions

Choosing a rubberized abrasive.

A rubberized abrasive suspends abrasive grain in a flexible rubber matrix instead of a rigid bond. The matrix cushions the cut, so the tool conforms to the surface and shaves imperfections away rather than gouging into the base material. That is why rubberized abrasives are chosen for polishing, deburring, blending and micro-finishing on parts where the dimension has to stay where it is.

Polishing wheels and discs cover open, accessible surfaces. Mounted points and cones reach bores, slots and fillets. Rubberized abrasive sticks and polishing blocks give an operator hand control for rework and touch-up. Belts and cloth suit continuous linear finishing, and cords flex into grooves and internal profiles. Every format shares the same cushioned rubber matrix, so you can change tool without changing the finish you get.

The standard range runs from grit 46 through to 400+. The ultra-fine and micro-grit band, grit 320 to 400+, is the one used for final polish and brightening rather than stock removal. Finer or intermediate grades can be formulated to order.

Yes. Bespoke profiles, dimensions and formulations are designed around your machine and your part, in any of the standard formats. Send the shape, the dimensions, the target finish and the equipment it runs on, and our technical team will propose a grade and geometry.

Not sure which grade you need?

Send us the part drawing and the finish you are targeting. We will specify it for you.
